ABC1 closing down ( views)
There is some bad news for 8 Simple Rules fans in the U.K. today, ABC1, the U.K. broadcaster of 8 Simple Rules from Disney, has announced it will be closing down next month.
Lack of space on the main Freeview platform meant it could only broadcast between 6AM and 6PM. Disney has not decided wether to sell their Freeview slot or give it to one of their Disney channels.
The future of 8 Simple Rules in the U.K. is today unknown.

I think it's a disgrace.. there are so many freeview slots that aren't being used or allocated to crappy jewellry shopping channels.. either ABC are liars or the whole freeview setup is corrupt and ripping off the viewer.

btw everyone although 8 simple rules is no longer being shown on abc1 it is on channel 5 at 11.00 am on sundays. although u cant watch it as much somethings better than nothing. It used 2 make b laugh i will miss that programme so much, the actors and the whole show was just bril!

DVDs are likely to be released here eventually, but nothing is confirmed yet.
As for another TV station, I think its unlikely.

I can't believe ABC1 has gone in the UK it was my fave TV channel and 8 Simple Rules was my fave TV show is there any chance that the show could be put on another channel in the UK or wether the DVD could come out over here too.

Sue, the DVDs are not sold in the UK - they will probably release it here eventually but for now there is nothing.
You could import from the US but you need a special type of DVD player (region free) to make it work, it gets quite complicated.

Can I buy DVD's of 8 simple rules in the UK and if so where?? I am so upset that I can no longer watch 8 simple rules on ABC1 on Freeview.

It closed down now because it only had a 3 year contract on its freeview slot, the station wasn't making money, so they chose not to renew the slot.
Freeview and Virgin are TV platforms, like Sky ... Freeview is completely free and Virgin is a cable company, who now operate instead of NTL.

NOO!! I've got Freeview & Virgin Media, Turned the channel to abc1 earlier and it said "channel no longer available" i thought hmm maybe somthings wrong with it, then saw all this :'(

u shouldnt laugh at it going. it is going on virgin media as well. i will sorely miss it. im gonna try tg4 for it so i can watchit. if not hopefully the dvd will be coming to the uk soon. luv ya all

It is on irish TV station tg4 which you can get here in ireland and the UK. Brian.Sorry to hear abc1 is closing aswell
